Janet Mather's satisfied subscribers have said:

"I am a charter member of ExerciseReminders.com. I love it!  I have been a couch potato for some time but your exercise reminders have been just the motivation I've needed to shed 21 lbs. I truly have not done too much except to make a conscientious effort to "move more, more often."  I look forward every morning  to reading your inspirational messages. (they stay with me all day).  Thanks for all of your hard work.  ExerciseReminders.com is a great idea."
-Anthony Tirendi, computer consultant, Philadelphia, PA

"It's so nice to know that there will be a smart, supportive, friendly and often cleverly humorous message waiting for me on my computer every morning. It also has a way of seeming entirely personal and made for me. During the time I have been subscribing to this site, I have joined an exercise team and made great progress toward taking seriously my goal of taking better care of myself."
-Linda Saltford, Familial Bliss Facilitator, Philadelphia, PA

“I love my daily emails!  Janet has a way of gently taking away the excuses so good things really happen!  I’m a desk jockey (astrophysicist, actually) and I need a little reminder to break the bond with my computer. When I read the daily reminders I am definitely moving more, more often."
-John Mather, 2006 Nobel Prize winner, Hyattsville, MD.

"Janet Mather’s “Exercise Reminders” are both light and utterly serious. The reminders help me strengthen my ability to get and stay in motion in my life.  The daily few sentences come in just at the right angle: they lightly but firmly identify common blocks for those of us trying to get more exercise, and gently support an increased commitment.
Totally unlike most of the hype around exercise, these daily reminders take a very broad and surprisingly deep view of health, balance, progress and resistance.  The reminders each can stand alone and also build on each other day to day. I look forward to my daily dose of uncommon wisdom on this common topic.  Because of Janet’s very unique big picture about human nature and health, the exercise reminders are different than anything I’ve come across. Highly recommended."
-Debbie Zucker, psychotherapist, Denver, CO

"I am enjoying my subscription to Exercise Reminders. Your daily emails bring a gentle sanity to the way I think about exercise, and more importantly, to the way I think about my body.
In my own life, and in embodiment work with my clients, I see harsh, militaristic exercise programs fail time after time.
You've hit on a core truth that eludes our exercise-obsessed society, and the truth is this: our bodies are meant to move. When we move in ways that are conscious, gentle and respectful of our bodies, we are building a nourishing relationship with our physical selves. And a body nourished in that way will want to move more ... and run and dance!  Motion, as you talk about it, is the way we get to know our flesh and blood selves. Fitness follows.
Thank you for your good work. And my body thanks you too."
-Emma Mellon, Ph.D., Licensed Psychologist, Berwyn, PA

"I was sick over the holidays and feeling overwhelmed by everything, including email. Fortunately, while going through my inbox I had several Exercise Reminders to read. After reading 10, I realized that instead of reading email I should hop on my rowing machine. Now I feel happy and energized rather than overwhelmed. 5 minutes on the rower probably saved me at least 50 min of slow overwhelmed wallowing."
-Jenny Briggs, mother, Pittsburgh PA

"When I heard about your e-mails, I had just gotten married and was eager to get back into an exercise routine.  Your e-mails have finally made me realize that every little bit counts.  Even on days when I only have 10 minutes to devote to exercise, I feel better knowing that getting some exercise is better than getting none at all.

That attitude also has carried over into other areas of my life.  For example, I woke up this morning feeling overwhelmed by all I have to do in my house today to keep it looking like I want it to despite my full-time work schedule.  Then I was in the kitchen and I thought, "Well, why don't I just clean the counter-tops and kitchen table?  At least that will be something."

So, I think what you're doing is great, and when my trial subscription ends, I'll be very happy to purchase my one-year subscription."
-Sheila Flanagan-Sheils, Attorney, Clarks Summit, PA

"Exercise Reminders?" Who needs any added guilt related to exercise, balancing our lifestyles, feeling better in our bodies and souls? Well, I do. These gentle reminders have helped me to open my mind to the possibilities for maintaining and even  improving my health and my overall life, even now when I am in my late 50's. The choice to exercise and to find ways to put more movement into my life now can pay dividends in my 60's, 70's and maybe even into my 80's. The last place I want to end up in my "golden years" is laying in a bed in a nursing home. If these up-lifting daily reminders do nothing else than encourage me to consider paying more attention to my physical well-being and to keep me out of the nursing home, then they are worth much, much more than the small monetary amount that I pay to receive them each day. The first "move" is up to you!
-Bob Cooling, Dupont purchasing professional, WV

"I appreciate the gentle, forgiving, funny and upbeat support, which gives me positive energy for whatever each day holds."
-Kathie from Oxford, England, Magistrate

"I just walked in from leaving the house at 5:30 this morning and all
I could think about was how funny your e-mail was today. I thought of
it often and even laughed out loud a couple of times.

Your e-mails REALLY help. A week or two ago you sent out an e-mail
mentioning the strategy one of your subscribers uses, making sure she exercises before finishing with your e-mail for the day. I've been doing the same for past few weeks. Since then the difference for me has been remarkable.  Her persistence and your e-mail sharing her story 'moved' me to do what used to be drudgery. A  couple of weeks ago I started commuting into the city for a new job. It must  add a couple of miles of walking to my day, and walks of two flights of stairs four times a day. Thinking of your e-mail throughout the day today prompted me to spend the 20 minutes I had waiting for the train walking
some multi-level laps at the station, skipping the escalators and using steps
instead of sitting on a bench.

"Janet has that rare ability to say things with such clarity that they can sometimes seem obvious in hindsight. A number of times I have made noise about how I am going to change something in my life, but deep down in some little truthful part of myself (that I try to ignore) I know that I will fall back into the same patterns. It is these times when I am most grateful to Janet for recognizing this situation, and even more importantly, for suggesting concrete actions to take that will help me actually make the change I want."

Exercisereminders keep the subject of physical well-being gentle on my mind. After receiving daily messages for several months and reading them every day just because they're so interesting, I've actually been subtly influenced to Move More, More Often. I feel like I'm in control of my body now and ready to sculpt it to my specifications. I really look forward to getting these gentle, supportive reminders every day. It's like having a personal trainer.
-Burndett Andres, homemaker, Cherryfield, Maine

"Your daily emails are always so positive and gentle that it's a pleasure to read them.  We hear so much of the "no pain, no gain" messages that are really counter-productive in my view, and your messages are much more realistic and helpful than others.  It's important to respect and value your body, and many, many people are so unaware of their bodies."
-Gayle Lloyd, writer, Atlanta, GA

"I have learned through your daily exercise reminders that it's not always necessary to go to the gym for exercise. In fact, exercisereminders has introduced me to more exercise options than I thought possible. Further, what often gets me going in the first place is the inspiration and motivation I find in the remarkable achievements of the individuals you have profiled, especially Jack Lalanne, age 93, and Sister Madonna Buder, age 77. They set goals and find ways to attain them. So it can be done."
-Lou Miller, trust officer, Oreland, PA

"Having a reminder every morning feels very supportive, and gives me a lot to think about. Especially during all the festivities in December, the reminders helped me get through in a sane way."
-Henriette, bookbinder, The Netherlands

"I love the reminders because they are so upbeat, supportive, and constructive - not the kind of criticisms that come from my family!"
–Jean Morse, J.D., Philadelphia, PA

"I find your exercise reminders very helpful. As a consultant, I am often very busy.
Regardless of whether I am working at home or on the road, I always check my E-Mail.  Your exercise reminders are a pleasant bit of sanity in my busy life, and remind me that physical exercise is an effective way of dealing with stress.  I look forward to them each day."
-Bob Klein, financial consultant, Albany, CA
